Day 01: Arrive Paro
Today Arrive Bhutan from Delhi, Kathmandu OR Calcutta
The flight into Bhutan takes you over the great Himalayas, offering the scintillating scenery of the world's highest glacial peaks. As you enter Paro valley, you will see the silvery Pa Chu (Paro river) meandering down the valley, the Paro Dzong (fortress) and Ta Dzong (watch tower). On arrival, received by our representative and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02 : Paro
Visit Bhutan’s National Museum with its fascinating collection of art, relics, religious Tangha paintings and Bhutan’s exquisite postage stamps. We will also visit Rinpung Dzong built in 1646 by the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, and Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), the most sacred place that is now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. This is a really tough climb for those who feel like making it. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 03 : Paro To Thimphu
Drive to Thimphu en route visiting Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the country which now houses the School of Buddhist studies.
Thimphu, perhaps the most unusual capital city in the world, is the seat of Government. This bustling town is home to Bhutan’s royal family, the civil servants and foreign missions. It is also the headquarters for a number of international funded development projects.
Full day of sightseeing in the Thimphu Valley including visit to the National Library, housing an extensive collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts; the Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as painting school) where students undergo 6 years training course in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts. Later visit textile and Folk Heritage museum, a fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese material culture and living tradition. Overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 04 : Thimphu
Morning visit to Changangkha Lhakhang. It is one of the oldest temples in the Thimphu valley, built in the 12th century on a site chosen by Lam Phajo Durgom Zhigpo, who came from Ralung, Tibet. The main chapel houses a unique statue of the seated Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. The other structure across the courtyard marked significantly with its grey, houses the protective deity. The entire complex situated on a hillock offers a magnificent view of the Thimphu valley.
Afternoon visit King’s Memorial Chorten continuously circumambulated by people, murmuring mantras and spinning their prayer wheels. Construction of this landmark was the idea of Bhutan’s third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (“the father of modern Bhutan”) who has wished to erect monuments to world peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after his untimely death, it serves both as a memorial of late king and as a monument of peace.
In the evening walk around Thimphu town, do some shopping and have dinner at Bhutan Kitchen which serves only Bhutanese food Overnight stay at Hotel In Thimphu.
Day 05 : Thimphu To Paro Departure
Morning Transfer to Paro airport (55 Km / 1 Hr ) for your flight to onward Desetination.
