Day 01
Arrive Katmandu and transfer to your hotel.Day 2 Katmandu
This morning visit Swaymbhunath, Kastha Mandap and Kumari Devi. In the afternoon visit the ancient capital of Patan and the Tibetan Handicrafts Center.
Day 3 Katmandu
Enjoy a morning excursion to Boudhnath, Pashupatinath and Bhadgaon. Afternoon free.
Day 4 Katmandu - Paro - Thimpu
In clear weather, Druk Air's flight to Bhutan provides a wonderful view of Himalayan scenery culminating in an exciting descent past forested hills into the kingdom. Fly to Paro this morning and upon arrival at Paro and clearing custom and immigration formalities drive on to the capital city of Thimpu via Chuzom, where Paro and Thimpu rivers meet. Arrive Thimpu and check in at your hotel.
Day 5 Thimpu
Enjoy a sightseeing tour including Tashichhodzong, an impressive fortress/monastery housing the Secretariat building and the throne room of His Majesty the King. Also visit the Folk Heritage Museum, the Post Office and the Painting School.
Day 6 Thimpu - Punakha
Drive to Punakha via the Dochu-la pass (3,088 meters) - on a clear day one can see various peaks including Gangkar Puensum- the highest peak in Bhutan (7497m). Arrive and check in at your hotel. In the afternoon visit Punakha Dzong, the 17th century fortress.
Day 7 Punakha - Wangdi-phodrang - Bumthang
Drive to Wangdi-phodrang and continue across Pele-la (3300m), the traditional boundary between East and West. Visit Chendbji Chorten, patterned on Katmandu's Swaymbhunath Stupa, with eyes painted at four cardinal points. Check into your hotel.
Day 8 Bumthang
Visit Kurje Lhakhang, where the saint Padmasambhava subdued a local demon and left his body imprint on a rock, and other sights of Bumthang.
Day 9 Bumthang
Enjoy an excursion to the Ura Valley, climbing through an amazingly open countryside, and cross Ura la (3,600 meters), on the approach to which there is a magnificent view of Mt Gangkar Puensum. Villages in Ura have clustered houses, which is quite unusual in Bhutan.
Day 10 Bumthang - Trongsa
Drive to Trongsa and check into your Lodge. In the afternoon walk by Trongsa Dzong, the ancient seat of royal power. The Dzong is a massive structure with many levels, sloping down the contours of the ridge on which it is built.
Day 11 Trongsa - Thimpu
Drive back to Thimpu and check in at your Hotel. Visit the Handicrafts Emporium in the evening.
Day 12 Thimpu - Paro
Drive to Paro and check in at your hotel. Later visit Ta Dzong, which houses the National Museum with a fine collection of ancient thangka paintings, textiles, weapons and artifacts.
Day 13 Paro
Visit the Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1646 to commemorate victory over Tibetan invaders, and enjoy an excursion to the famous Taktsang Monastery viewpoint.
Day 14 Paro - Katmandu
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Katmandu and upon arrival transfer to your hotel for the night. Afternoon free.
Day 15 Katmandu - Onward Flight
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
