Day 1: Delhi To Paro, Thimpu
The Druk Airways flight to Paro is one of most fascinating in the Himalayas, offering enchanting views of Mount. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and other peaks in Bhutan such as Mount. Chomolhari and Jichu Drake.
On arrival at Paro airport you are met and transferred to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, situated 60 km (2 hour drive) from the airport. Overnight at the hotel in Thimpu.
Day 2: In Thimpu
After breakfast visit Tashichhodzong, the beautiful medeival fortress/monastery. Later visit the National Library, Painting School and the Traditional Medicine Institute.
In the afternoon visit the Memorial Chorten, the stupa built in memory of Bhutan's Third king, followed by a visit to the Handicrafts Emporium. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Thimpu To Punakha
After breakfast depart on the 75-km (2-½ hour) drive to Punakha. The road goes over the Dochula pass (3,050m), which offers the most enchanting views of Bhutan. Some 8 km out of of Thimphu, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the kingdom, which now houses the school for Buddhist studies. Until 1955, Punakha served as the capital of Bhutan and is still the winter seat of Chief Abbot.
In the afternoon visit Punakha Dzong and Khamsun Yulley Namgyel Chorten. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.
Day 4: Punakha To Bumthang
In the morning proceed to Bumthang, situated 205 km (6 hour drive) from Punakha. Enroute visit Wangdiphodrang Dzong, town and local market. Drive further over the Pelela pass (3,300 m). En route, visit Chendbji Chorten. Overnight at the lodge in Bumthang.
Day 5: In Bumthang
Spend the day exploring Bumthang, the most beautiful valley of the Kingdom. Visit Jambey Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang and Jakar Dzong. Overnight at the lodge in Bumthang.
Day 6: Bumthang To Thimpu
After an early breakfast, depart on the 268-km (8-hour) drive to Thimphu. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening you have free time for shopping and leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 7: Thimpu To Paro
After an early breakfast drive to Paro. You have time to witness the Paro tsechu (festival). Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 8: In Paro
After breakfast witness the Paro festival. In the afternoon visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 9: In Paro
After breakfast you can witness the Paro festival. In the afternoon take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery and Kyichu Lhakhang. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 10: Paro To Delhi
Early morning witness the unfurling of Paro Thongdrogel and later drive to the airport for your flight back to Delhi.
