Ajmer Travel

Ajmer, a deserted oasis cloaked in greenery and surrounded by Aravalli Mountains, has a great importance on the global tourist map as a very holy pilgrimage of Muslims. Situated in the royal state of Rajasthan and very close to the capital city Jaipur (only 135 km in the south-west of the capital city), Ajmer is explored by thousands of domestic and foreigners (both leisure and pilgrimage tourists) to pay homage to Dargah-e-Sharif (Tomb) of Khawaja Moin-ud-din Chisti, a respected Sufi saint of the 12th century. The city is well connected by rail, road and air from all parts of the country. In addition to this, there are also a number of hotels, lodges and motels in the city to accommodate. Ajmer is a very clean and green city that is appreciated by foreigners for a serene and magical environment.

As far as the major attractions of the city are concerned, the whole credit goes to Ajmer-e-sharif Dargah that keep visitors enticed for a long time. It is said about the place that “Come Empty Hands and Go with Your Desired Wish Completed”. In other words, it’s believed that the shrine is a place of hope accomplishment for those who implore with spiritual and clean hearts.

The globally renowned pilgrimage is located at the foot of a barren hill where Khawaja Moin-ud-din Chisti' mortal remains lie buried. The tomb is made of marble and red sandstones are surrounded by a silver platform.

During the Urs, the death anniversary of Khawaja (e first six days of Rajjab, the 7th month of the Islamic calendar), more than half a million devotees from subcontinent are seen here to pay homage to Khawaja. During the Urs, the main attraction is a musical program that is called Qawwali or Kabbali wherein the 'Sufiana kalam' sung by artists keep visitors spellbound.

In addition to Ajmer-E-Sharif Dargah, there are also some other attractions that keep travelers mesmerized for a long time. Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhonpra (built by a king of the Delhi Sultanant - Allauddin Khilji), the Ana Sagar Lake, the Taragarh Fort, Daulat Khana, Daulat Bagh, and the Nasiyan Jain Temple are some of the major and worthwhile places to explore during your Ajmer tour.
