Day-By-Day Itinerary

Vadodara | Ahmedabad | Dwarka | Somnath | Sasangir | Junagadh

Day 1: Arrival Vadodara On arrival at Vadodra you will have your early introduction with the Gujarat Extravaganza Tour that is to come next. Vadodara is a fascinating historic city; its archaeological findings and great architecture attracts highest influx of travelers.

On arrival our representative will escort you to the hotel where you will check-in for overnight stay. Explore the city next on a sightseeing tour which will first take you to Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. Situated within the complex of the LaxmiVilas Palace the museum is one of the most captivating sites within the palace premises. The museum has exotic collection of the royal Gaekwad family on display. As you penetrate further inside Laxmi Vilas Palace you will come across most magnificent buildings. The palace is exquisitely furnished and is replete with various artifacts and relics. Inside the palace also explore Kirti Mandir which is known for its exquisite architecture.

Day 2: Vadodara – Champaner – Pavagadh – Vadodara This day at Vadodara will begin with a trip to Champaner. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Champaner is situated at the foothills of Pavagadh. The town was founded by Vanraj Chavda in the 8th century and today it stands with significant relics of the age including magnificent Jama Masjid. Also drive towards Pavagadh brings an opportunity to visit temple of mother goddess Mahakali Maa. Pavagadh gets its name from the fact that is a solitary hill standing out alone, blessed with a blowing gentle breeze from all around. Legend has it that the valley surrounding Pavagadh was filled up by the power of sage Vishwamitra. Return to your hotel in Vadodara for overnight stay.

Day 3: Vadodara – Ahmedabad Morning Drive to Ahmedabad. The city where Indian Independence Movement reached its zenith when lead by Mahatma Gandhi, Ahmedabad welcomes all its guests with open arms irrespective of their caste, color or creed as per Gandhian philosophy. Tour the city and first visit a spectacular white marble Hathisingh Jain Temple. This Swetambara Temple was built outside Delhi Gate in 1850 and is dedicated to 15 Tirthankar, Dharamnath. The city embodies national integration and thus has several mosques along with Hindu and Jain temples; one such famous mosque is Siddhi Sayad Masjid which is indeed worth a visit. Sidi Saiyed Mosque is the solid fortified citadel built of deep red stone in the year 1411. Its intricate stone work and semi circular carved stone windows are exquisitely designed. Later visit Adalaj Vav which is Gujarat’s most spectacular step-wells which built by Queen Rudabai entrances leading to a huge platform that rest on 16 pillars. In the end conclude the day’s tour with visit to Sabarmathi Ashram to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi- 'Father of the Nation'. His ashram was founded in 1915 and was headquater during Indian independence struggle; today it is functional at producing handicrafts, handmade paper and spinning wheels.

Day 4: Ahmedabad – Patan – Modhera – Ahmedabad Morning proceed to visit Rani ki Vav (Step well). Founded by the Queen Udaymati the wife of Bhimdev during 11-12th Century it is the most magnificent and spectacular step well, one of the finest specimen of such architecture for water wells. On your tour next visit Patan Patola of weaving. Patan is famous for patola weaving, Salvi family is one of them who has continued this traditional art and has preserved it even today. Patola silk is regarded as one of the finest quality of silk; this category of silk from the area of patan in the north Gujarat region of western India glorifies this heritage with its exquisite features such as qualities, gorgeous colors, designing & durability. Later drive to Modhera Sun Temple; dating back to early 11th century CE the temple is the most significant sun temple in the whole Gujarat.The temple is magnificent and the finest example of the Hindus architecture in Gujarat. In the front of the temple there is a colossal tank, which was once known as Surya Kund or Rama Kund. After an extended city tour return to your hotel in the evening for overnight stay.

Day 5: Ahmedabad – Sasan Gir Start your morning early and head out to the only abode of Asiatic Lions at Sasangir National Park. Enter the woods to explore wilderness at Sasangir National Park. Blessed with a great ecosystem ideal for breeding of diverse flora and fauna, Sasangir is also the sole home of pure Asiatic Lions. The group of animals that inhabit the park other than Asiatic Lions include Indian Leopards, Jungle Cats, Sloth Bears, Golden Jackals, Striped Hyenas, Indian Mongoose along with Four-horned Antelope, Wild Boar, Blackbucks and even reptiles such as Marsh crocodile, Indian Star Tortoise and several species of snakes.

Day 6: Gir – Junagad Today proceed for Junagadh in Gujarat. On arrival at Junagadh first visit Uperkot Fort which is an ancient fort built by Chandra Gupta. Also, explore Ashokan Edicts, Mahabat Maqbara. The Ashoka’s Rock edicts are situated on the way of Girnar Hill Temple. The rock engraved with the Buddhist edicts of Ashoka. The edicts are significant for Buddhism devotees and they impart moral instruction on dharma, harmony, tolerance and peace.

Day 7: Junagad – Somnath Morning post breakfast proceed to Somnath . Also known as Prabhas Patan Somnath is home to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India, the Somnath Temple. After a visit to the temple start your drive back towards your hotel in Sasangir where you will stay for the night. Enjoy taking part in evening Aarti ritual with horde of devotees and the evening will be given a perfect closure by a beautiful Light and Sound Show.

Day 8: Somnath – Diu Morning visit Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sangam. The day brings another journey to Diu, an island off the south coast of Gujarat’s Kathiawar peninsula separated from the mainland by a tidal creek. On arrival check-in at a hotel in Diu where you will be staying for overnight. Next visit the reminiscent of Portuguese colonizers, the Battlement of Diu Fort. Built in 1535 the fort is one of the most imposing edifices in the region. Next visit St. Paul's Church & St. Thomas Church.

Day 9: Diu – Porbandar – Dwarka Morning proceed to Dwarka and also pay an en-route visit to Porbandar. At Porbandar you will be driven for a sightseeing tour of the region. Later in the day visit Kirti Mandir- home of Mahatma Gandhi. A memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, Kirti Mandir is a great specimen of Gandhian philosophy for it symbolizes national integration and showcases Gandhi’s love and respect for all religions. A visit to the fascinating monument will be very enlightening after which you will be directed to Gandhi museum, study room of Mahatma Gandhi in the Kirti temple. Also, visit of Sudama temple & Harsiddhmata Temple in the region. Further resuming the journey to Dwarka will take you to a hotel in Dwarka – City of Lord Krishna. Evening pay homage to the lord and take part in evening Aarti ceremony at Dwarkadheesh Temple.

Day 10: Dwarka The day brings a trip to the legendary city of Dwarka which is believed to be the dwelling place of Lord Krishna. The city mentioned in holy epics of Hindus is marked with several temples that are holy shrines related to Lord Krishna’s lifespan. Head for a city tour and first visit a famous Hindu temple, Bet Dwarka. Next pay homage to sacred Gomti River and then head for a visit to grand Dwarkadish Temple; the temple is a 5 storied edifice and is believed to be 2500 years old which was built in 16th century CE. Also visit Nageshwar Gopi Pond and Rukmini Temple- the temple dedicated to Lord Krishna’s wife Rukmini.

Day 11: Dwarka – Jamnagar – Ahmedabad Drive back to Ahmedabad today and take an en-route tour to Jamnagar to visit Bala Hanuman Temple. The temple is a pilgrim place venerated by the devotees of Lord Ram. The renowned temple is famous for continuous chanting of Jai Ram, Shri Ram. The chanting is going on since 1964 and has found a place for it in the Guinness Book of World Records. People chant the name of the Lord in shifts, 24 hours a day.

This way you will be ending the journey on a sacred note and will take your flight back home from Ahmedabad Airport.
